Job description

The Divison of Optimization and Systems Theory forms part of the Department of Mathematics. We are active in research related to mathematical optimization, optimal control, mathematical systems theory and systems engineering with applications in a variety of areas, e.g., radiation therapy, medical imaging, structural optimization and robotics. We offer courses on various levels, where the bulk is courses on advanced level. The position is intended to widen the research scope in optimization carried out at the division, to give room for a strong independent candidate. A limited amount of teaching may be part of the duties.

The position is a time limited, full time, one-year postdoc position with possible extension for another year, starting June 1, 2017 or later. 

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with a doctoral education (completed in the last three years or to be completed before the commencement of the position) in optimization or related areas. Candidates cannot have their PhD degree from KTH. We seek a candidate with a strong background in mathematical optimization, preferrably in an area that complement the research directions of the current faculty at the Division of Optimization and Systems Theory. The successful applicant should be strongly motivated, have the capability to work independently as well as in collaboration with members of the division, and have good communication skills. No skills in Swedish are required.
