Subject description

The subject of the position includes theory, mathematical models and statistical methods for problems within mathematical statistics.

Duties 

The successful applicant is expected to do research and teaching in the subject field as well as perform related administrative tasks. The successful applicant is expected to contribute to the development of the department's education at all levels, interact with scientists at the department and others within neighboring subjects in addition to supervise master students and PhD students. Master thesis projects are carried out in application areas, often at companies. The person who is hired is expected to be able to teach in English when taking office and to be able to teach in Swedish within two years after appointment.

Eligibility

Those qualified for appointment as an associate professor are persons who have:

  • been awarded a PhD or has the corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve , and
  • demonstrated teaching expertise.

Grounds of assessment

The assessment criteria for appointment as an associate professor at KTH shall be the degree of expertise required as a qualification for employment. In addition, the assessment criteria stated in the KTH appointments procedure, appendix 2, apply in relation to the employment profile laid down.

Of highest importance is the applicant's research skills in the subject, as documented by publications in international journals of high quality, and ability to establish an independent research program within the field. Of highest importance is also teaching skills and pedagogic development including supervision of masters theses within application area.

Of second highest importance is the applicant's ability to establish and develop partnerships in research and teaching. The applicant's expertise in developing and leading activities and personnel is also of second highest importance; this includes having knowledge about matters of diversity and equal treatment, with particular focus on gender equality.

Research and teaching experience related to financial mathematics is of importance for this position. It is also of importance that the applicant has interpersonal skills, administrative expertise, the ability to pursue third-stream activities and also provide information about research and development work.
