Job description

The goal of the position will be to lead the development of OnSSET (the OpeN Source Spatial Electrification Toolkit) and related research. The candidate will continue the development of open source spatial electrification toolkit elements. Specifically this will include: the development and inclusion of productive activities and their use of resources, such as energy; and taking an active lead in the OnSSET steering committee and developing its community.

The candidate will: Develop and apply the Open Source Spatial Electrification Tool (OnSSET). Develop and test hypothesis with these, thereby adding to academic knowledge. Author research papers in international peer reviewed journals. Collaborate with international multi-disciplinary teams. The candidate will be expected to take part in projects and activities in the division at the discretion of the director. The candidate should also be involved in education activities in existing courses at undergraduate and graduate level as determined by the director of the Division.

Qualifications

The candidate should have knowledge in GIS and energy access. The candidate should be familiar with (or be keenly interested and capable of being familiar with) open source global GIS electrification tools, such as OnSSET, the Open Source Spatial Electrification Toolkit. The candidate should (ideally) have been involved in teaching of energy analysis tools to students, and preferable also government officials and researchers. The candidate should have shown the ability to disseminate its research work in international platforms, including but not limited to web portals and international conferences.

It would be advantageous if the candidate would have had experience in the analysis of the nexus between energy, water and agriculture. Knowledge of Python would be an asset.
