Job description

We are looking for a researcher to our division Energy Ssytems Analysis, ESA, within the department of Energy Technology.

In this position, the researcher shall have research coordination responsibilities. He/she will assist the Head of the Division in the management of the latter, in teaching activities and in the supervision of PhD students by discussing with them the research activities and revising their scientific production. The researcher will also contribute to the Scientific Coordination of ongoing EU-funded Horizon 2020 projects and proposals. The research will be developed within the framework of large EU-funded multi-team modelling efforts, where the focus will bw on development of energy transition scenarios for EU28 and extraction of modelling insights for diverse groups of stakeholders.

Qualifications

The candidate shall have a PhD in energy engineering and systems analysis and at least 2 years’ experience from a postdoc position in the same field.

It’s required that the candidate has solid scientific and practical knowledge in energy and integrated system modelling, including open source model development and applications. Specifically, deep expertise in the use of OSeMOSYS.org and CLEWs models is essential. Experience in the management of research divisions and large multi-team modelling projects are also required, preferably for Europe.

Candidates with experience in the application for research funds, editorial work in high-quality scientific journals and organization of international energy modelling conferences will be preferred. For complete integration in the activities of the division it is also positive that the candidate has proficiency in capacity building on energy systems modelling and flexibility in travelling. Knowledge of European languages other than English and Swedish and active collaborations with international research institutions and European Commission are also appreciated.

We are looking for a candidate with good leadership skills and very good communicative skills. The candidate has great commitment and engagement towards his/her work. Further on, the candidate has good networking skills and understands the structures within the division.
