Job description

KTH is building, in close cooperation with Scania and AstraZeneca, a novel research and education environment at the department of Sustainable Production Development in Södertälje at the School of Industrial Engineering and Management. We are now expanding the research group with researchers and doctoral students in the fields of production management, production logistics and industrial dependability. This postdoctoral position is part of the expansion and focuses on production management and will, among other things, work within the framework of the new 3-year research project ASPIRE regarding strategies and methodologies for deviation management in industrial production with the aim of contributing to more stable processes in operation. This is achieved through, among other things, the development of decision support and increased automation to achieve more effective redevelopment when deviations occur in complex production systems and its supply chain.

The position concerns a postdoctoral position in the field of production management. You are expected to qualify as a researcher in the field of production management with active involvement in projects at the Department of Sustainable Production Development at KTH in Södertälje, mainly in the project ASPIRE (Automation Solutions for Production Deviation Management). The teaching takes place in civil engineering programs and master's programs at the department. The research and education are conducted in close cooperation with Swedish industrial companies, including the partner companies Scania and AstraZeneca. The education is in Swedish and English, so ability or ambition to express yourself in Swedish and English in speech and writing facilitates the work. Participation in national and international networks as well as involvement in the department’s future project development are included.

Qualifications

We are looking for an applicant with a Ph.D., taken no longer than three years ago, in Production Engineering, Production Management, Industrial Economics or equivalent area relevant to the focus of the position. It is meritorious if you have a M.Sc. within Production.

To qualify for the position, you have:

  • Knowledge of production systems and production management in manufacturing industry
  • Knowledge of smart production, Industry 4.0 and digitization of manufacturing
  • Applicants should have good research and publication merits
  • Experience and interest in applied research projects in collaboration with external industry partners
  • Excellent ability to express yourself in writing and speaking in English
  • Ability or expressed ambition to learn Swedish in text and speech

It is considered meritorious if you have:

  • Knowledge and experience of advanced analysis tools for deviation management in production
  • Knowledge and experience of production management and production development in small and medium-sized enterprises
  • Experience in project applications and participation in EU projects
  • Experience of having worked in industry

As a person, you are independent with the ability and interest to contribute to a team's development. You have good analytical and problem solving skills. You are interested in knowledge exchange and can have pedagogical dialogues with different partners. Further on, you have a good ability to formulate direct project ideas for student projects, as well as more comprehensive and long-term research ideas. In addition to the above, it is advantageous if you have:

  • A great driving force and creativity in your work
  • A network within the production area
  • An interest to translate research findings and new knowledge into a format that fits industrial applications
