Job description

Shared management and planning of the workshop's work. Both fine/precision mechanics and larger constructions/works will be handled. General jobs in metal (milling, turning, welding, soldering, etc.) but also various joinery work. To a large extent, one-piece work without a thorough drawing, but also works based on drawings. Participation in rigging and rebuilding of experimental setups. Purchase of materials / equipment for the activities and projects in the lab. The work is independent, but with extensive contacts with PhD students and researchers.

Qualifications

You should have a solid background in working in a mechanical workshop environment and be well acquainted in the manual production of high precision items using, e.g., lathes and milling machines, as well as hand-tools. Good knowledge of engineering technology and the use of manual workshop machines. Knowledge of numerically controlled machines is meritorious. Ability to cooperate, full of initiatives and structured are necessary qualities. Ability to contribute with technical solutions and ideas as well as being able to interpret and work from simpler sketches is meritorious. Further qualifications that may count are skills in welding and sheet metal processing as well as general electrical competence. You will work on projects that often consist of collaborations between researchers in Sweden and abroad, as well as collaborations with industry partners. The job requires that you have good work ability, but also that you should be able to drive and perform your work independently. You have to be flexible because you will be involved in multiple projects at the same time. Since the work is done in an international environment, you should be able to express yourself orally in both Swedish and English. Applicants should have a secondary education or have acquired equivalent knowledge through work experience.
