A post-doctoral position is available at Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab) in Stockholm, a Swedish national resource center for life science research. We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented postdoctoral researcher to join the lab of Associate Professor Anders Andersson, affiliated with the Department of Gene Technology at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.

Job description

The work will consist of developing a novel method for coupled microscopy and single-cell transcriptomics for the analysis of marine unicellular eukaryotic plankton, with the long-term goal of producing a plankton transcriptome atlas of linked microscope images and gene expression data. The work will involve cell staining techniques, fluorescence microscopy, molecular biology methods and basic sequence analysis of NGS data. The project wi out in collaboration with other researchers at SciLifeLab and with researchers in the lab of Rachel Foster at Stockholm University.  

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a PhD (or equivalent) in cell or plankton biology, molecular biology, biotechnology or related field with a strong background and knowledge of molecular biology. Experience with fluorescence microscopy and/or confocal laser scanning microscopy is highly valued. Experience in bioinformatics and NGS data analysis is valued but not a requirement. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively is highly valued. Excellent command of written and spoken English is a requirement. The postdoctoral researcher will be employed by KTH Royal Institute of Technology and the workplace is SciLifeLab Stockholm.
