Job description

The Department of Production Engineering (IIP) conducts advanced production technology education and research in three main areas: manufacturing and measurement systems, digital smart production focusing on automation and assembly as well as sustainable production systems. The operations are laboratory intensive where the latest technology and modern equipment are developed and used both in education and research. Examples are machines for additive and subtractive manufacturing of metal and plastic components, measuring equipment for advanced sound and vibratory analysis in cutting machining and control systems for human robot collaborations. In order to maintain the engineering skills, the department offers a technician’s position.

The following areas are within the scope of the position:

  • In close collaboration with researchers, plan and carry out scientific experiments
  • Create parts and systems for advanced machines and measuring instruments
  • Maintain existing and newly purchased lab equipment
  • Be helpful in laboratory work for technologists

The position offers great opportunities for personal development as work is carried out in close cooperation with researchers, students and industrial companies.

The position is a permanent employment, where KTH applies probationary employment the first 6 months.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position, you must have at least a high school level education within engineering, automation or equivalent. You have experience of modern engineering work, as well as experience of working with advanced machines such as numerical controlled workshop machines and industrial robots. Further on, knowledge in Swedish and/ or English, spoken and written, is mandatory.

It is a prerequisite if you have a M.Sc. in mechanical engineering, automation or equivalent. It is also meritorious if you have:

  • Experience of work with additive manufacturing
  • Programming skills of control systems for different types of machines and industrial robots
