Kungliga Tekniska högskolan, Skolan för teknikvetenskap

Job description

The nonlinear quantum photonics group at the department of applied physics is offering a one-year postdoctoral research position. This position is intended for work on the emerging thin-film lithium niobate on insulator (LNOI) platform, to push forward the technology for high-confinement and low-loss photonic circuits and demonstrate novel device concepts integrating nanophotonic, nonlinear and electro-optic functionalities. An important part of the work is to publish scientific articles at highly rated international journals in photonics and to contribute to the supervision and training of MSc and PhD students in the group. The postdoctoral researcher will be employed by KTH. The workplace is the research unit for quantum and bio photonics at KTH-AlbaNova in Stockholm.

Qualifications

Candidates should hold a PhD degree in photonics (received within the last three years) with a proven record of outstanding experimental skills and a strong background in integrated optical devices and nanofabrication. Familiarity with electron beam lithography and high-resolution microscopy techniques, as well as experience in the fabrication and characterization of nanophotonic devices are a requirement for this position. Experience with nonlinear optical materials and experimental work on ferroelectrics such as lithium niobate are desirable, but not a requirement. A proven record of successful student supervision and training is also a merit. Candidate should be strongly motivated, have the capability to work independently as well as in collaboration with members of the research group and possess good communication skills. Good command of written and spoken English is a requirement.
