KTH, School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology & Health

Job description

One of the current research areas at the Department of Applied Physical Chemistry is study of complex dynamic processes at the molecular level in ionic liquid crystalline (ILC) materials. ILC is a new class of ionic liquids that can form liquid crystals. ILC combine the ionic conductivity and high polarizability of ionic liquids with anisotropic physical and chemical properties of liquid crystals. Such a combination makes ILC highly demanded materials for technical applications in nanotechnology, electrochemistry and biomedicine.

The main task of the work during this employment is to perform liquid and solid state NMR measurements in these new materials and process and analyse data according to specific protocols.

Qualifications

PhD in Physical Chemistry. Good background in organic chemistry and knowledge of basic chemical and physical properties of ionic liquids and colloidal systems.

A demonstrated experience in modern NMR spectroscopy.

The applicant shall also have good communication and cooperation skills.
