KTH Royal Institute of Technology, School of Engineering Sciences

Job description

The post-doc will work in the EU project UHURA. The research concerns analysis of the transient turbulent flow around aircraft wings associated with deflection of the so-called Kruger flap. As a part of KTH’s involvement in the project, the post-doc will contribute to development of a novel approach for accelerated unsteady hybrid RANS-LES computations for a correct representation of the important slow dynamics when simulating the rapid turbulence scales. The validity of this approach will be assessed by using 2D and 3D URANS as well as hybrid RANS-LES on generic cases. Moreover, flow-structure interaction (FSI) analysis with modal representation of the structure together with hybrid RANS-LES as well as URANS will be performed.

The Linné FLOW Centre (www.flow.kth.se) organizes research in fundamental fluid mechanics at KTH and is one of twenty original centers of excellence set up by the Swedish Research Council (VR). The centre was established with a vision as an outstanding environment for fundamental research in fluid mechanics, where innovative research is born and future research leaders are fostered. It has become one of the internationally-leading research groups in fluid mechanics.
