Project description
Third-cycle subject: Computational and applied mathematics
Computation is nowadays viewed as the third scientific tool as a complement to theory and experiment. Scientific problems in computational sciences are often formulated with linear algebra and approached with algorithms and techniques from numerical linear algebra. In this project we will use numerical linear algebra to develop new, efficient iterative algorithms for nonlinear and parameterized problems. We use and generalize techniques from matrix computations, such as Krylov subspaces and Arnoldi methods, with the goal to solve problems involving large matrices. As a PhD student within this project you will be a member of the research group in numerical analysis, and have the possibility to work with researchers and experts in numerical linear algebra. Research in this project spans from software, algorithm and applications to theory and analysis.
