Project description
Third-cycle subject: Computer science with the focus on machine learning
We are searching for a doctoral student in machine learning for a project at the Department of Robotics, Perception, and Learning (https://www.kth.se/rpl/).
The project for which we are recruiting a doctoral student is called EnTimeMent (https://cordis.europa.eu/project/rcn/218717_en.html). The purpose is to find better methods to analyze and understand how humans move over different time horizons, from fractions of a second when you stretch out your hand for a greeting, to days as humans move around during their daily lives. Possible applications can be found in rehabilitation, entertainment, and human-machine interaction.
The doctoral student will work on both discriminative and generative machine learning methods to analyze, predict and generate movement patterns, typically using visual data, but also data from other sensors, such as accelerometers. The goal is to extend the time horizon over which human movement can be predicted and infer things such as an individual's emotional state from his movement.
The student should have a strong interest in machine learning, a good understanding of mathematics and computer science, and preferably an interest in collaborating with participants from various application areas.
