KTH Royal Institute of Technology

Project description

Third-cycle subject: Electrical Engineering

We are looking for highly motivated doctoral students that will join our efforts in devising future approaches for edge computing and wireless networking. The research direction associated with these positions generally considers novel real-time applications with closed-loop characteristics, where highly responsive edge computing infrastructures are of interest. In this context, the doctoral students will conduct theoretical and experimental research with respect to devising and optimizing novel algorithms, architectures and protocols. While theoretical insights are of interest, in this effort we mainly strive for experimental results. Apart from the core topics edge computing and wireless networking, the successful candidates will also get in touch with different applications like closed-loop control, as well as human-in-the-loop applications like augmented reality.

The doctoral students will be hosted by the department of Information Science and Engineering. The department consists of 8 faculty members, researchers and doctoral students who contribute to a high professional standard of intensive work and quality results, as well as to a friendly and open environment. The staff has a multicultural background and the working language is English. The department is internationally well established, has many research collaborations with excellent partners worldwide, and is involved in several European and national projects. The excellent research environment at the department promotes creativity and allows a lot of flexibility so that people can work in a way that fits best to them. The work commitment is very high and the cooperative setting creates a positive sense of belonging.
