Project description
Third-cycle subject: Computer Science
These projects are concerned with method development in machine learning as well as applications of the developed methods. The goal is to facilitate investigations of developmental, temporal, and spatial aspect through analysis of cutting edge biological data, which in some cases has single-cell resolution and in cases carries spatial information. Methodologically, this project will be focused on advanced methods for computational inference such as Expectation Maximization, Sequential Markov Chain, Variational Inference, Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC), and Particle MCMC methods, as well as obtaining efficient implementations of such methods by taking advantage of modern computational technology. We are collaborating with groups developing new experimental methods as well as generating biomedical data. We are particularly interested in methods with applications in studies of tumor progression and tumor-immune interactions.
