Project description
Information and Communication Technology
The PhD position is connected with a project called "AI4Green: Artificial Intelligence for Green Mobile Networks". AI4Green focuses autonomous management of both radio access and core networks, together with processing and storage resources at data centers while keeping in mind the emergence of new architectures and the development of smart grids. This includes:
- Analysis of mobile traffic data collected from mobile networks
- AI-based Network optimization using data (Traffic prediction, resource reallocation, self-healing)
- Intelligent detection of faults and anomalies in mobile networks
- Risk-sensitive resource management that takes into account the end-to-end path considering data centers, storage, computation, radio and core network resources at the same time.
- Design of smart, autonomous and parameter-free base stations that learn from the environment and activate the relevant energy saving features when needed with the optimized parameter settings
This PhD position covers multi-disciplinary skills and at the end the student will develop knowledge and become expert covering the intersection of all these areas: data analytics, machine learning, communication systems, mobile networks, optimization of communication systems. Having background and experience in one or more of these areas is an advantage.

In order to succeed as an doctoral student at KTH you need to be goal oriented and persevering in your work. In the selection of the applicants, the following will be assessed:

Only those who are or have been admitted to third-cycle studies may be employed as a doctoral student. The term of the initial contract may not exceed one year and may thereafter be extended. Doctoral students may engage in teaching, research, and administration corresponding to a maximum of 20 % of a full-time position.
