Subject description

The subject field covers the implementation, management and development of elements that integrate sustainable development into technical education.

Duties

The position includes educational development initiatives such as teaching in higher education courses and various types of development projects, including strategic responsibility for such development in terms of goals, activities and collaborations. The work may include developing international collaborations and research projects, conducting research and teaching in another subject and supervising doctoral students. 

Eligibility

Those qualified for appointment as an associate professor are persons who have:

  1. been awarded a PhD or has the corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve , and
  2. demonstrated teaching expertise. 

Grounds of assessment

The assessment criteria for appointment as an associate professor at KTH shall be the degree of expertise required as a qualification for employment. In addition, the assessment criteria stated in the KTH appointments procedure, section 1.2., apply in relation to the employment profile laid down.

Of highest importance is that the applicant has

  • documented scientific skills demonstrated through research and development work. concerning the integration of sustainable development in the subject field.
  • documented teaching skills in the subject field.
  • documented ability to apply for and obtain funds for conducting research activities.
  • documented experience of developing technical education at course and program level.

Of second highest importance that the applicant has

  • documented experience of communicating education development nationally and internationally.
  • documented experience of researching one's own and / or others' integration of sustainable development into technical education.
  • good interpersonal skills.
  • expertise to develop and lead activities and staff. This includes knowledge of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality.

It is also important that the applicant has

  • ability to communicate in Swedish and English in speech and writing.
  • the ability to pursue third-stream activities and also provide information about research and development work.
  • administrative expertise.
