The UrbanT team is leading efforts to utilize big energy data to inform large-scale retrofitting measures on a city level within a research project called Massive urban building energy performance simulations for city energy efficiency strategies (MUBES). An interdisciplinary team will be developing a new toolbox to inform municipalities, planners, utilities, and building portfolio managers, on how to plan retrofitting measures on the consumption, and what resulting demand will look like on the production side.

The position is full-time and temporary up to two years.

Job description

The position is expected to become a core team member of the MUBES big data for energy project that sets up the semi-automated simulation environment with IDA and the surrounding models. The responsibilities will in addition cover project and stakeholder management via reports, meetings, and deliverables that need to be carefully planned and executed on time and with content of the highest possible quality.

Qualifications

For the position you need a doctoral exam in energy technology or building technology or in a similar area. If you have education in computer science or similar education, it is positive but no requirement. You have further knowledge of dynamic building energy simulations (eg IDA-ICE, Trnsys, EnergyPlus), a good understanding of building dynamics.

In order to succeed in the role, we would like you to have previous experience of building simulation tools as well as experience of building assembly projects supported by simulation technology. You feel confident in writing scientific articles and assume that you have language proficiency in English in both written and oral. Swedish in written and oral it is positive but no requirement.

It is meriting to have experience of generic calculation tools, such as R, Python, MATLAB, knowledge in statistical methods, software development or development of custom modelling environments.

Your personal qualities are also very important for us. As a person, you are independent with the ability to prioritize, organize and plan tasks based on changed circumstances. You enjoy working together and maintaining good relations with both internal and external actors.
