The advertised position is part of the Protein Science Department (http://www.kth.se/en/pro) at the School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health. The work will be conducted at the Science for Life Laboratory (http://www. scilifelab.se), which is a national institution for the advancement of molecular biosciences. SciLifeLab hosts a number of national facilities to enable advanced analysis for the Swedish research community who otherwise would not have access the these infrastructures and expertise.

Job description

The work will be part of the Plasma Profiling facility at SciLifelab (www.scilifelab.se/facilities/plasma-profiling/) that offers the analysis of proteins in blood samples by using different immunoassay methods and technologies. A successful candidate will be involved in leading, managing and coordinating the projects of the Plasma Profiling facility. The work involves representing the facility, presenting data to users and managing the different user projects for the facility, as well as reporting the analysis results. The position also includes administrative duties.

The candidate will be responsible for the facility’s personnel and the projects that are being conducted with a team of laboratory research engineers as well as data analysts. There is a strong focus on communication with users of the facility and to lead a team in a collaborative research environment. The candidate should have the capabilities to prioritize and plan the tasks for the team, lead the facility towards its goals and support the users’ projects by providing high quality data.

Qualifications

The applicant should hold a PhD in a field of life science. Experience in leadership and coordination of a research team, an analytical unit or facility is a requirement. Knowledge and experience about multiplexed affinity proteomics and the analysis of body fluids is a merit. Skills in the development of immunological methods and experimental validation of data are a merit. Proficiency of structured laboratory work with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and project management systems is a merit.

A personality to promote team work and professional qualities to build collaborative relationships with users is highly valued. The applicant should exhibit a structured, accurate and initiating work attitude. A successful candidate should possess excellent communication in English (written and oral), and good communication in Swedish is a merit. The applicant should be highly motivated to work in a team and on interdisciplinary different projects.
