The Smart Mobility Lab is hosted by ITRL, the Integrated Transport Research Lab, which is a multidisciplinary research center within transport, formed by KTH, Scania and Ericsson, with a strong focus on real-life implementations and demonstration projects. The Smart Mobility Lab is one of our implementation platforms for automated transport solutions, based on simulation models and computer-controlled physical model vehicles and communication networks.

Job description
As a research engineer in the Smart Mobility Lab you will work in a well-equipped laboratory and you will work together with world-leading researchers to implement, test, and showcase future mobility and transport concepts. Many projects are done in collaboration with industrial partners. More specifically the job includes:

  • Development and implementation of concepts and research results, both individually and in collaboration with researchers and PhD students,
  • Development, maintenance and organization of software,
  • Design and construction of experimental hardware and electronics,
  • Demonstrations and lab tours for external visitors,
  • Responsibility for day routines in the lab, for example purchases, installations, bookings, inventory,
  • Producing media content for our web and other channels
  • Supervision and support to BSc, MSc and PhD students, postdocs and researchers who use the lab.

The employment is limited to 1 year with possible extension up to max 2 years. The work is ideal for young professionals that want to boost their CV for applying for PhD positions or industrial jobs.

Qualifications
The successful applicant is expected to hold or to be about to receive a M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Applied Mathematics or similar fields, preferably with a focus in Systems and Control and/or Robotics. Good command of English is required. You should have an outstanding academic track record and well developed analytical and problem solving skills. We are looking for a strongly motivated and self-driven person who is able to work and learn new things independently. Previous experience in implementation projects with Matlab/Simulink, Python and ROS is desired.
