Job description

We are looking for a research engineer who will perform research activities within the field of bioenergy systems analysis, one of the thematic areas at the division of Energy and Climate Studies at the Department of Energy Technology.

As a research engineer, you will: 

  • Contribute to ongoing research projects focused on biofuel and bioenergy
  • Perform interdisciplinary energy research in bioenergy systems
  • Carry out environmental and economic performance analysis of modern bioenergy
  • Investigate the role of bioenergy for meeting the Sustainable Development Goals
  • Support course work and administrative tasks

Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ongoing bioenergy research projects within the division, share research results in seminars, publish in peer- review journals together with the ECS team, and help with the development of research applications.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position, you have a M.Sc. degree in Science, Engineering or a similar degree within another relevant area. Very good knowledge of English, speaking and writing is necessary.

Documented research experience is highly valuable as well as other relevant work experience both within EU and outside.

It is meritorious if you have knowledge of renewable energy technologies, bioenergy systems (conversion technologies and supply chains), decision support tools such as life cycle assessment and GIS. Furthermore, you have experience in using decision support analytical tools such LCA or mathematical optimization software (e.g. matlab).

We are looking for a person with genuine interest in quantitative and qualitative research and systems thinking. We will place great emphasis on your personal suitability, where we are looking for a candidate with:

  • Strong interest/motivation in renewable energy research
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, orally and written
  • Familiar with interdisciplinary system approaches
  • Ability and motivation to work in an interdisciplinary and international academic environment
