Subject description

The subject comprises molecular technologies and bioinformatic analyses of genomes (DNA), the active genes (RNA) and the final products (proteins).

Duties

Specific duties include directorship for the National Genomics Infrastructure (NGI Sweden) at 50% and research and teaching at 50%. The research should be focused on method development within genomics and include experimental and/or bioinformatics work. Research is to be done in line with education within the department to ensure that both the national infrastructure and the education follows the developments in the field. 

Eligibility

A person who has demonstrated both research and teaching expertise shall be qualified for employment as a professor.

Grounds of assessment

The assessment criteria for appointment as a professor at KTH shall be the degree of expertise required as a qualification for employment. In addition, the assessment criteria stated in the KTH appointments procedure, section 1.1, apply in relation to the employment profile laid down.

Of highest importance is that the applicant has

  • Scientific skills in the subject field, shown by for example scientific publications at internationally high level, the ability to attract external funding, participation in research collaboration, as well as the ability to further renew and develop the subject field.
  • Pedagogical skills within the subject area shown by teaching of high quality at research level as well as basic and/or advanced level.
  • Expertise to develop and lead activities and staff. This includes knowledge of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality.

Of second highest importance that the applicant has

  • Skills in the management of large-scale infrastructure
  • Administrative expertise
  • Collaborative skills
  • Demonstrated skills regarding method development in the subject area including experimental and/or bioinformatic analysis.
