Job description

We are looking for a project coordinator who will take responsibility for the coordination of a newly established national center for synchrotron light in materials science. You will, together with the director of the center at KTH and the co-director at Linköping University, be responsible for stimulating and developing the Swedish application of synchrotron light in materials science and engineering. The center has been established to take responsibility for the academic hosting of the Swedish Materials Science beamline (SMS) that Sweden has invested in at the synchrotron facility PETRA III, DESY, Hamburg, Germany. The project coordinator will have the responsibility to keep updated on the research frontier in this field both in Sweden and internationally. It is also part of the responsibility to interact with the research team at the SMS in Hamburg and to communicate with the Swedish materials community in academia, institutes and companies about the opportunities with synchrotron light. Furthermore, the coordinator is expected to contribute to the internal research in the field.

The coordinator position is a permanent position located at Campus KTH in the city center of Stockholm, subway station Tekniska Högskolan.

KTH applies a six-month probationary period for positions aiming to be permanent employments.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position, you have a M.Sc. degree in materials science, or other relevant education. Furthermore, you must have:

  • Good knowledge of oral and written communication in English
  • Good social skills
  • Great technical interest with experience in technical research and development
  • Good leadership skills
  • Good administrative ability

It is advantageous if you have conducted research studies (with a Licentiate and / or a PhD degree) in materials science, physics or another relevant area. Experience from research and development with synchrotron light as well as research and development within material science and engineering are also advantageous for the position. Knowledge of the Swedish language will be considered a plus.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence and suitability.
