Project description
Third-cycle subject: Electrical Engineering
The Division of Decision and Control Systems at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at KTH Royal Institute of Technology conducts research in networked control systems, robotics, optimization and control, process control and learning of dynamics and control. Much of the research is conducted within EU projects, as well as within the inter-departmental initiatives WASP and SRA TNG. The group has also strong financial support from European Research Council, the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research and the Swedish Research Council.
The positions are sponsored by the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP), funded the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. The PhD students will attend the WASP-AS Graduate School.
We invite applications for up to 3 doctoral student positions in distributed model predictive control. The successful candidates will join a research group that is focusing on new design methodologies for distributed model predictive control and decision-making of multi-agent systems. The positions are associated to the following topics:
1) Distributed event-based model predictive control: develop methologies for distributed MPC which tackle communication limitations through appropriate event-based strategies;
2) Multi-robot coordination: develop control and task planning methodologies for heterogeneous multi-robot systems with different motion capabilities. The robots may have different dynamics, state and input constraints and might operate both in the air, ground and sea levels.
