We are looking for a research engineer for the Department of Sustainable Development, Environmental Science and Technology (SEED). The department conducts research and education in sustainable production and consumption, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and adaptation to climate change, development of sustainable cities as well as land and water use. Our operations are located at the KTH campus Valhallavägen.

The position is temporary full-time work from 15 September 2019 through 17 March 2020.

Job description
In the position of a research engineer, the work consists of modeling of mass and energy flows in agro-ecosystems in the African countryside, including food production and energy use. Calculation of climate effects of introduction of new technology for biochar production and use is included, as well as documentation and reporting of the work. Administrative tasks may occur.

Qualifications
In order to succeed for the position you have passed a degree at basic or advanced level in technology or equivalent competence. To succeed in the work you have experience of life cycle analysis of bio-based production systems as well as skills in programming and modeling. If you also have experience from field work in Africa, it is an advantage. Knowledge of gasification and biochar is an advantage. Furthermore, you have good ability to communicate in writing / orally in English in a professional context.

We are looking for a person who has a great interest in the area. As a person you have the ability to work independently and are used to working on deadlines. You are motivated by challenging tasks and value collaboration by maintaining good relations with both internal and external colleagues.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence and suitability.
