KTH Royal Institute of Technology

Job description

The goal of this position is to further research in User Interface Modeling at KTH. While few user interface modeling approaches made it into general practice, the focus here is on declarative user interaction representations accessible to end-users or amateur programmers. Approaches that are known to work in practices for purposes such as prototyping, evolutionary prototyping, and even interactive system programming and maintenance will be studied and expanded upon. The research is at the intersection of fields such as UI Modeling and End-User-Programming and will aim to expand on previous work at the department by Cristian Bogdan and Filip Kis.

The researcher will be expected to design and coordinate the implementation and evaluation of novel declarative representations of graphical, physical and other forms of user interfaces. Long-term deployment of declarative prototyping technologies in real-world settings as well as follow-up in these settings is an important aim. The researcher will also aim to establish in the research community new notions related to end-user declarative prototyping, for example through a series of workshops at relevant international conferences.

The postholder will work with Dr. Cristian Bogdan as a mentor and will be situated at the MID department (Media Technology and Interaction Design) https://www.kth.se/mid/research

The position is mainly a research position, with a small fraction of departmental duties (e.g. teaching, especially in Interaction Programming). This postdoctoral position is a full-time employed position for 2 years.

The starting date is open for discussion, though ideally, we would like the successful candidate to start in October 2019 or as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research at 75% and teaching at 25% of their employment.
