Third-cycle subject: Industrial Economics and Management

We invite applications for a doctoral student position at the Department of Industrial Economics and management in a research project on organisation and change from a gender perspective, with emphasis on gender equality and diversity work. We are looking for a self-reliant, highly motivated individual interested in research, doctoral studies and change management in organisations. Gender equality and diversity are today seen as integrated aspects of organisational management, and many organisations are continuously working towards improving their performance and culture in these respects. In parallel, academic research provides new theoretical perspectives and methodologies as well as insights on the complexities involved in this form of work for change. Change management usually encounters various forms of resistance, and may both contribute to developments towards increased equality and diversity and to reproduce and sustain existing patterns. This research project therefore aims at developing knowledge on these forms of organisational change management processes. 

Supervision: The doctoral student will be placed at the Royal Institute och Technology and be supervised by Associate Professor Charlotte Holgersson.

Eligibility

To be admitted to postgraduate education (Chapter 7, 39 § Swedish Higher Education Ordinance), the applicant must have basic eligibility in accordance with either of the following:

  • passed a degree at advanced level,
  • completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits at advanced level, or
  • in any other way acquired within or outside the country acquired essentially equivalent knowledge.

In order to be eligible for the position, the applicant must have documented knowledge at university level on organisation, management and gender. Furthermore, the applicant must have proficiency, written and spoken, in both English and Swedish.

Selection

In order to succeed as an doctoral student at KTH you need to be goal oriented and persevering in your work. In the selection of the applicants, the following will be assessed:

  • ability to independently pursue his or hers work,
  • ability to collaborate with others,
  • have a professional approach and
  • analyse and work with complex issues.

After the qualification requirements, great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and personal suitability.

Information regarding admission and employment

Only those who are or have been admitted to third-cycle studies may be employed as a doctoral student. The term of the initial contract may not exceed one year and may there after be extended. Doctoral students may engage in teaching, research, and administration corresponding to a maximum of 20 % of a full-time position.
