Job description
This project is about investigating the possibilities to better utilise the small-scale hydro power in Sweden, which contributes to a small part of the Swedish hydro power generaiton, but could deliver both more energy and more balancing capacity to the power system, through more efficient utilisation and possibly by expansion of existing power plants. Today there is little or no coordintation of the operation of smallscale power plants. By developing new models for planning the operation of the power plants, it would be possible to better utilise the combined balancing capacity at the same time as there is a possibility to run the power plants in such a way that the impact on the local environment is lesser. These models can also be used to evaluate investments in the power plants.
The position is placed within the Division of Electric Power and Energy Systms, but the project will be carried out in cooperation with the Division of Resources, Energy and Infrastructure as well as the Department of Industrial Economics and Management. Moreover, there will be a close cooperation with industry organisations; the work includes carrying out case studies of real small-scale hydro power systems.
