The Hamedi lab (www.hamedilab.com) at the Department of Fibre and Polymer Technology focuses on combining electroactive materials and biopolymers to develop new tools and devices that can have an impact on the areas of energy and health. 

The primary aim of the project is to explore electronic textiles and paper-based devices for the integration of molecular DNA diagnostics. The integration deals with all levels of diagnostics including samples preparation, using novel ways of lysing cells to extract DNA, to new forms of DNA amplification in paper and textiles, to new methods of detecting DNA using for example printed electronics.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, in Biotechnology, Electronics or Physics, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline.
  • In-depth knowledge of biotechnology.
  • Experience of electronic nanomaterials in biology.
  • Experience and skills in using electronic and bio-technical instruments.

The successful candidate needs to have an excellent academic record of accomplishment, well-developed analytical skills as well as problem solving skills. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who can contribute with his or her own ideas and can work independently as well as collaborative. Good knowledge of English in speech and writing is necessary to publish and present research results in international conferences and journals.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence and suitability.

Preferred qualifications

It will be considered an advantage if you have additional knowledge or experience in nanotechnology, DNA techniques.

About the employment

The position offered is time limited for a maximum period of two years.

A position as a postdoctoral fellow is a time-limited qualified appointment focusing mainly on research, intended as a first career step after a dissertation.
