KTH, School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health

Job description

An excellent postdoctoral researcher is sought for a research project on the development of sustainable hydrometallurgical processes for the recycling of lithium-ion batteries. The research will focus on industrial applicability and participating researchers will be in direct, regular contact with industry representatives in a reference group. The project is also linked to an ongoing collaboration project with The Crystallization and Precipitation Unit at the University of Cape Town on new crystallization methods for resource recovery.

As a postdoc, you will focus on the experimental development of crystallization processes to produce high purity Co, Mn and Ni sulfate salts. The starting point will be solutions obtained after separation of Co, Ni and Mn with solvent extraction. The work will focus on developing a fundamental understanding that can be applied to design processes to obtain high purity crystals.

The postdoctoral fellow will be part of a larger collaborative team involving senior researchers, PhD students, and postdoctoral fellows. As a member of the group, you will work independently on the project and in close collaboration with members of the group.

The project is funded by the Swedish Energy Agency.
