Job descprition

The joint research project is a collaboration between KTH Sweden, EPFL Switzerland and Sabanci University Turkey to investigate the complex phenomenon of cavitation.
In particular, the pilot project has the following main objectives related to the micro scale cavitating flow characterization and intensification:
• to generate cavitating flows with the design of small flow restrictive elements arranged in parallel whose surfaces are functional and have variation in wettability
• to enhance generation and intensification of cavitating flows inside microfluidic devices by developing artificial roughness elements and trapping hydrophobic fluorinated lubricants.
• to study the potential of a new approach, which includes cellulose nanofiber (CNF)- stabilized perfluorodroplets (PFC5s) inside microfluidic devices as a cavitation intensifier.

Qualifications

The successful candidate has a Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, applied physics or equivalent.
At least 1 year PostDoc experience in the international environment and outside the home university is considered as a merit.
Previous experience with microfluidic systems and analysis of the cavitating flow both experimentally and theoretically is considered to be of an extra value.
Excellent communication skills, a proactive and constructive personality as well as fluent English speaking and writing abilities are expected. The ability to complete and well document the assigned tasks is essential.
As a collaborative project between 3 partner universities KTH position is limited for 1 year with the occupation grade of 30%. The stating date is 1st of January 2020.
