Job description

The Unit of Applied Thermodynamics and Refrigeration conducts research on heat pumps, their components and applications of heat pumps in the energy system. The research is closely related to industry and to practical applications.

We are looking for a postdoc who will work in collaboration with RISE Surface, Process and Formulation. Frost growth on metal surfaces with different types of coatings is the subject being investigated within the project. The purpose is to find coatings that reduce frost formation and thus reduce the need for defrosting in air source heat pumps and cooling systems.

In the position, you are expected to work independently in a laboratory environment, primarily with tests of surfaces in a wind tunnel but also with the preparation of surface coatings. Teaching activities may be included in the tasks.

Qualifications

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with a doctoral degree related to heat transfer, refrigeration and heat pump technology, fluid dynamics, surface chemistry or other areas relevant to the project. The doctoral degree or equivalent foreign degree must have been obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline.

Furthermore, scientific skills shown by scientific publishing in any of the areas heat transfer, heat pumping techniques or surface chemistry is required, as well as experience in laboratory work in at least one of the areas.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence and suitability.

Preferred qualifications

It is meritorious if you have teaching experience and experience of supervising doctoral students and/or masters students.
