Job description
The successful candidate will conduct research in combinatorics and its interactions with artificial intelligence and statistics together with Liam Solus and other members of the mathematics department at KTH. Our understanding of complex combinatorial structures, such as graphs or networks, has long played a central role in artificial intelligence. In recent decades, modern combinatorial theory has expanded beyond graph theory and strengthened its connections to fields such as algebra and geometry. Our goal will be to expand upon these connections and develop their applications to AI and statistics. Researchers with experience in fields related to any of the following are encouraged to apply: combinatorics, statistics, AI, graphical models, causality, algebraic statistics, geometry, algebra, combinatorial optimization, discrete geometry.
The position is a time-limited, full-time, one year position (with the possibility of extension up to one year) starting August 2020 or at an agreed upon date. The position includes generous travel support, and it is financed through the Wallenberg Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP). The successful candidate will participate in the MATH/AI program at WASP, through which they will have a variety of opportunities to interact with other researchers and industry collaborators in AI, ML, and statistics.
