Kungliga Tekniska högskolan, Skolan för teknikvetenskap

Job description

Within the Biomedical flows group within the Department of Mechanics we focus on blood flow phenomena, blood clot formation and bleeding due to artificial life-supporting devices such as heart-and lung machines and heart support pumps, but also on formation of atherosclerosis in patient related geometries. The cross disciplinary work carried out within the group is computational and experimental and is carried out in close collaboration with clinic.

We now have the opportunity to expand our research group with one PostDoctoral researcher for a one year position with the possibility to extend it for one more year within the area of Biomedical fluid mechanics. The work involves carrying out fluid mechanical blood flow simulations as well as methodology development of the computational tools used and associated data analysis with the purpose of understand cause and effect of clot formation and bleeding events associated with artificial blood pumps. The project’s research questions are closely linked to the clinical application and will be carried out in close collaboration with the research group members as well as with other researchers active both nationally and internationally. The work may also include participation of supervision of doctoral students as well as Master thesis projects. There will also be given possibilities to get involved in teaching on undergraduate level.
