Kungliga Tekniska högskolan,

Job description

This position is within the SSF Big Data project ”In-Situ Big Data Analysis for Flow and Climate Simulations.” The goal is to develop e-Science tools to analyze very large numerical simulations.

This position concerns the development of novel Big Data visualization and analysis methods to be applied to data from large numerical simulations. Such simulations suffer from the sheer size of the data to an extent where even saving the data in a reasonable resolution is unfeasible. A core component of this position is the development and implementation of novel analysis methods based on combinatorial topology, specifically Discrete Morse theory, merge trees, persistent homology and related concepts. The data sets come from state-of-the-art research labs in fluid dynamics and climate research. An active collaboration with these partners is required.
