The unit Internal Combustion Engine

Today, transports that are based on internal combustion engines and fossil fuels result in high emissions of carbon dioxide and other compounds. Therefore, engine development is striving to develop cleaner and more energy efficient engines that are also adapted for future bio fuels. The internal combustion engines unit is working with todays and tomorrows challenges for propelling future climate adapted transports

Job description

 You will work in a research environment with operation, maintenance, upgrades and further development of the unit's advanced internal combustion engine labs. The duties include working with mechanics, electronics, software, and fuel systems related to the engines and the lab's infrastructure. In close collaboration with both researchers and doctoral students you will become involved in setting up and doing tests/experiments in the labs and thereby contribute to the research projects.

Examples of what your duties will be:

  • Programming, data processing, measurements, actuation and control, e.g. using Labview environment
  • set up and handle software, sensors, actuators, electronics, mechanics and fuels,
  • assist researchers with selection of sensors, actuators, electronics, mechanics,
  • design, prototyping and installation of lab and test equipment.

In the long term, there is also the possibility of collaboration with the lab at KTH's mechatronics unit.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position, you have a Master of Science in Engineering or higher education in mechatronics / electronics / data / control technology or the like. You have both practical and theoretical knowledge of control theory, sensors and measurement techniques and have good programming skills, preferably in Labview and / or Matlab / Simulink / dSPACE or similar. 

It is an advantage if you have:

• Master's degree in Mechatronics

• Experience from industrial projects / lab environment, research environment, mechatronics workshop or similar

• Good experience with Labview, Matlab / Simulink / dSPACE or similar

• Experience of prototyping mechatronic systems

• Knowledge and experience of combustion engines and mechanical systems

• Knowledge and experience of service and repair of electronic and mechanical systems

• Knowledge and experience of working with security issues

• Good knowledge of Swedish and English
