Job description

A postdoc position on Supernovae is available at the Department of Physics, KTH Royal Institute of Technology. The position will involve collaboration with members of the Astronomy Department at Stockholm University.  The departments at KTH and Stockholm University are both a part of the Oskar Klein Centre (OKC, http://www.okc.albanova.se) and located in the same building. The OKC provides a stimulating research environment with a large community working on different types of astronomical transients.

The position will primarily involve data analysis of SNe, including the nearby SN 1987A, as well as interacting and superluminous SNe. The analysis will focus on observations from HST and JWST, but may also include X-ray observations, depending on the interests of the candidate. We also welcome applications from candidates who have experience and interest in theoretical modelling. The successful candidate will be encouraged to take part in the supervision of master students and/or PhD students.

Qualifications

A strong academic track record and previous research experience in the field of supernovae is expected. Strong collaborative skills as well as the ability to work independently are also required.

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence and suitability.

Preferred qualifications

It is considered an advantage to have experience of supervision of students and knowledge about issues related to diversity and equal treatment.
