Job description
In this postdoc position, you will work with Associate Professor Sandra Pauletto to develop and further research in sound computing (sound design, sonic interaction design, sonification, auditory displays) through an in-depth understanding of existing sound design traditions in media production (film, theatre, games).
The successful candidate will analyze case studies on sound design practices in media productions and formalize knowledge in this area. As well as to contribute to stimulating the formation of new work and thinking, the successful applicant will contribute to existing projects such as SonicFunc and The Climate Music Box.
The successful candidate will also contribute to scientific publications and new grant applications, as well as to the production of sound-based works. The role includes the production of in-depth case studies, organization of research activities and dissemination of project results through peer-reviewed publications, conference participation, workshops, and exhibitions.
The workload will be divided as follows: 80% of the time will be dedicated to research, 20% of the time for organization of the above-mentioned activities and preparation of grant applications.

Your work will take place at the Division of Media Technology and Interaction Design, part of the EECS School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, in the Sound and Music Computing (SMC) team.
Qualifications
The candidate must have experience in quantitative and ideally qualitative research methods to be able to gather in-depth knowledge from case studies on sound design practices in media productions and use that knowledge to develop and evaluate new digital sound design models and approaches for the future.
The successful candidate must be experienced in audio programming and human-computer interaction, have a good knowledge of sound media production software programs, as well as a good understanding of media production workflows and roles to be able to develop new approaches in sound computing, sound design, and sonification in a variety of contexts with particular attention to areas of societal impact: health, sustainability, disability, climate, ethical use of technology, etc.

The successful applicant should have an outstanding research and publication record. Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills are a requirement. We are looking for a strongly motivated person, who is able to work in cooperation with others as well as independently, and who has a good understanding of equality and diversity issues in academia. Very good command of English orally and in writing is required to present and publish research results.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence and suitability.
