Job description
The Postdoctoral researcher will be involved in a project from Lantmännen Research Foundation on designing new glycoprotein materials using isolated building blocks from wheat bran. This is a collaboration between the Division of Glycocience (Associate Professor Francisco Vilaplana) and the Division of Polymeric Materials (Prof. Mikael Hedenqvist). The Postdoctoral researcher will extract and characterize polysaccharides and proteins from wheat bran with methods developed in both laboratories. The Postdoctoral researcher will perform chemical and enzymatic modifications to reach specific macromolecular architectures.
The Postdoctoral researcher will also prepare films and hydrogels with the designed glycoproteins and analyze their properties. The postdoctoral researcher will assist in the project administrative management and in the dissemination of research results through research publications. Finally, the Postdoctoral researcher is expected to participate as co-supervisor of master's students.
