We are looking for a research engineer for the Department of Sustainable Development, Environmental Science and Technology (SEED). The department conducts research and education in sustainable production and consumption, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and adaptation to climate change, development of sustainable cities as well as land and water use. Our operations are located at the KTH campus Valhallavägen.

Job description

As a research engineer, you participate in a number of different research projects in the field of sustainable building and Construction, focusing on life cycle assessment of buildings. It constitutes work in the ongoing research project Life cycle assessment of buildings in an international context, but also independent work in other related projects. The duties include performing LCA calculations, modeling of environmental impact, analysis of LCA calculations, conducting interviews,literature reviews, scientific writing and development of environmental assessment methodology for Buildings. Administrative tasks may occur.

The position is temporary full-time work for 12 months

Qualifications

To qualify for the position, you have at least 4 years of academic engineering degree (or equivalent), and at least 30 ECTS in environmentally related university courses at advanced level. It is a merit if you have completed an environmental or Construction related master's program. Experience in modeling and calculation of environmental impact from a system perspective is required.

Furthermore, you have good ability to communicate in writing / orally in English and Swedish in a professional context. Experience of working in Excel is required. We would like to see that applicants have experience of analytical project work with focus on buildings and their environmental impact. Knowledge and application of methods in practice for the implementation of life cycle assessment of buildings is very valuable. Knowledge of contemporary construction methods in Sweden and experience of building design and work in BIM is also valuable. Experience of conducting interview studies and workshops in projects with different stakeholder groups are meritorious, as well as previous scientific publication.
