Project description
Third-cycle subject: Engineering Mechanics
In this project we use computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to analyze turbulent flows around wings and other complex geometries. To this end, high-order spectral methods will be employed together with uncertainty-quantification (UQ) techniques to understand the impact of the simulation parameters on the results and to design new relevant flow cases. The PhD will become part of the SimEx research group, where he/she will have the possibility to interact with several related projects including experiments, and will also have access to the multi-peta scale supercomputing facilities available at KTH, in conjunction with the Swedish e-Science Research Centre. Furthermore, the PhD will have close interaction with our on-going work within theEU Centre of Excellence Excellerat.
Supervision: The doctoral student will be supervised by: Professor Philipp Schlatter and Assistant Prof. Ricardo Vinuesa.
