The PDC – Center for High-Performance Computing is the leading Swedish supercomputing center hosted by the EECS School at KTH. It operates state-of-the-art computational and storage resources for a variety of scientific application domains, including mechanics, computational chemistry, life sciences, climatology, and physics. Amongst these systems is one of the largest supercomputers in the Nordics, Beskow, a Cray XC-40 system with over 67,000 cores. Currently, the successor to Beskow, which will be operational during 2021, is procured. The PDC computer hall is in many ways technology-leading with high power in a small area. KTH has also re-used the energy from the computers to heat the campus area for many years.

Job description

Responsible for the operation of PDC’s computer hall, initially with the current computer hall manager and later more independently. Contacts with suppliers of computers and computer room equipment for power, cooling and control/monitoring as well as our property owner Akademiska hus. Planning of new computer installations and projects to increase the energy efficiency and reliability of the computer hall.

Qualifications

Training and experience in one or more of the areas of power, cooling and control. Experience of  project management is a merit. Experience of computer halls, computer networks or other industrial environments with high requirements on reliability is a merit. Practical disposition so you can sometimes fix small things on your own. Good command in English is required since the staff at PDC is international.

We would like you as a person to be stable and be able to cooperate easily with others as the service involves both internal and external contacts. You should also be able to work independently and take your own initiatives for planning the work.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence and suitability.
