The successful candidate will explore the use of spiking sensors and algorithms, ideally on dedicated neuromorphic hardware (such as SpiNNaker, Spikey, or Loihi) to control real or virtual robots in the neurorobotics platform (NRP, https://neurorobotics.net). Multiple experiments are envisioned, ranging from motor-control for compliant tendon-driven robots (e.g. for Neuroprosthetic Devices), up to event-based vision for scene understanding and mobile robot navigation. Optionally technology transfer from the lab environment into industry or Start-up Company. The advertised position might include a 20% teaching obligation.
