KTH, School of Architecture and Built Environment

The Department of Real Estate and Construction Management is the country's leading academic environment for research and education in law, economics, management, finance and geodesy with links to real estate development, construction and property management.

The Department is centrally located on the KTH Campus in Stockholm and has around 60 employees divided into five divisions: Real Estate Business and Financial Systems, Real Estate Economics and Finance, Construction and Facility Management, Real Estate Planning and Land Law and Geodesy and Satellite Positioning.

The Division of Geodesy and Satellite Positioning conducts research in both theoretical and applied geodesy: monitoring geodynamic phenomena (land and sea level rise), geoid determination, development of methods for accurate positioning and collection of geographical data using terrestrial and satellite sensors. Together with the Division of Geoinformatics, the Division is responsible for the educational specialization of Geographic IT within degree program Civil Engineering and Urban Management and for the international master's program Transport and Geoinformation Technology (TTGTM).

Job description

We are looking for a researcher who will do research in one of three possible focus areas in geodesy:

  • Realization and quality assurance of reference systems for infrastructure projects. This area is part of an on-going research project where, questions related to the establishment of project-adapted network RTK services, calculation services and new positioning methods will be investigated.
  • Methods for data collection for the production of geometric models of buildings and infrastructure. This focus area is linked to an on-going project where, among other things, we will investigate questions about geodetic aspects of BIM and quality assurance of collected data and resulting models.
  • Using space geodesy methods in combination with terrestrial geodetic data, ocean and geophysical models to study sea level rise, vertical land motion, glacier mass balance, and other geodynamic phenomena.

The candidate is expected to write scientific articles and to co-publish with other researchers, write applications for new research projects, and to communicate research results to both the academy and the industry.

The candidate will also participate in the training and supervision of doctoral students and degree projects at the bachelor and master level.
