Mammalian Cell-Based Bioprocess Technology.
The subject includes cultivation technology with a focus on bioreactors, high-cell density perfusion cultures, process control, cellular physiology and product-formation characteristics of various mammalian cell lines, including human cell lines. The focus is on application-inspired scientific process developments that aim to achieve process-intensification, transition to continuous bioprocessing and/or use of flexible production systems to improve economics, sustainability, product quality, scalability and time to market of new products.
Duties include leadership of an independent research team on mammalian-cell-based bioprocessing that is able to complement and collaborate with the ongoing activities within the Department of Industrial Biotechnology and at other departments within the CBH School or KTH. This includes the initiation of new research projects, acquisition of funding, setting up and running academic- and industrial collaborations, supervision of young researchers at MSc, PhD and post-doc level, financial management and maintaining a safe, stimulating and healthy work environment.
Duties also include teaching, including coordination, teaching and/or continued development of critical courses on mammalian-cell-based bioprocesses in the KTH Biotechnology program. The candidate is also expected to supervise MSc students during their diploma thesis projects.
Duties furthermore include project management and representation within the field, KTH, the CBH School, the Department of Industrial Biotechnology and/or research presentations for a general audience, academic and industrial collaborations and in (inter)national networking communities.
