Job description
In line with KTH objective of a future sustainable society, this efforts target the sustainable goal Clean and Affordable Energy, specifically by enabling the transformation of the energy system. In detail, this project aims at increasing the knowledge enabling to improve energy efficiency in industry by intensifying heat-transfer properties using chemical reaction and endothermic reactions.
The objective is to understand the interplay between turbulence, chemical reactions and heat-transfter. To that end we will use high-fidelity CFD simulations of flow, chemical reactions and heat-transfer in candidate heat-transfer geometries. The post-doc will develop geometries, create numerical mesh, run heat-transfer and conjugate heat-transfer simulations, analyze and report results.
Teaching duties can be included in the tasks (up to one fifth of the working hours).
What we offer
Qualifications
A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline.
Applicants must hold or be about to receive a doctoral degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process or Energy engineering (or equivalent), preferably with focus on using CFD tools to predict flow and heat-transfer. The doctoral degree must have been obtained within the last three years from the application deadline (some exceptions for special grounds, for instance sick leave and parental leave). The candidate should have a strong background in at least one of the following areas: numerical heat-transfer, computational fluid dynamics, simulation of thermodynamics, combustion simulations, or turbulence simulations.
Good command of English orally and in writing is required to present and publish research results.
Preferred qualifications
We are looking for candidates with strong research record. Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills are a requirement as well as being able to take ownership of the project and meet milestones. A strongly motivated person, who is able to work independently and plan efficiently task will fit perfectly the role.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence and suitability.
