Job description

A one-year research engineer position is available in the group of Statistical Biotechnology at Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab) at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. The group develops machine learning methods and statistical techniques for interpreting high-throughput experiments.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented open-source developer to join our team. The project involves C++ development within Percolator (http://percolator.ms), a machine learning and statistics package for interpretation of shotgun proteomics data. The project is run in collaboration with the University of Washington, and the project involves interaction with several other research groups across the world.

The successful candidate will have a master’s degree in computer science, statistics, physics, or related field. Experience of C++ is required and interest in and experience with machine learning techniques, Unix and/or mass spectrometry is desirable. The starting date is negotiable; however, successful candidates will be encouraged to start as soon as possible.

Qualifications

We anticipate that you have an M.Sc. in some quantitative area, such as physics, mathematics or computational science, and that you are experienced in C++ programming. Any experience of machine learning, Unix, or mass spectrometry is an additional qualification. The starting date of the position is negotiable, but we prefer you to start as soon as possible.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence and suitability.
