Job description

The research group within the unit for Structures at the Department of Materials Sciences offers a one-year research position, focusing on material design for powder-based additive manufacturing (AM) of metallic materials. The successful candidate will be part of a research group focusing on integrated computing tools for alloy design of metallic materials.

The position is associated with the following sub-topics:

  • Development of computational strategies to study the effect of pre-processing of powder for AM
  • Modeling of solidification structures and microstructure evolution during AM

Furthermore, the candidate will also support teaching activities such as supervision of doctoral students and master's students.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for the position, the candidate has a Ph.D. in material science, material physics or nearby field. The candidate has extensive experience in computational tools for material modeling, programming, and ability to develop own models. The appropriate candidate should preferably also have experience and knowledge in the field of additive manufacturing and/or powder metallurgy.

The position requires very good communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate, who can work well independently and within different research groups constellations. A successful applicant has a good research and publication record. Further, it is required that the candidate has well developed analytical and problem-solving skills.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence and suitability.
