Job description

You will work in the division of Energy Systems and KTH, and focus on two key interconnected sustainable development-related projects:

50% of the time will be dedicated to advance the work on using the detail of all 169 Targets of the SDGs to evaluate projects and policies. The Research Engineer work will contribute to an ambitious research project on the topic looking at building tools to use the SDGs for shaping projects and policies (financed by the Swedish Research Agency FORMAS). This will build up on previous work at the division of Energy Systems on the topic (Ref. 1-4)

50% of the time will be dedicated to the evaluation of the key dimensions of sustainable and smart mobility in the city of Curitiba, Brazil. This effort will be part of a larger project funded by the Swedish Agency Vinnova, aiming at providing insights to city planners and policy makers when it comes to the opportunities for the sustainability of the local transport system. Analytical approaches will be applied to compare scenarios on the sustainability of transportation systems. Scenarios for mobility will be compared based on several criteria to be defined in the project, which could include route planning, transport capacity, delay in passenger transfers, congestion, energy management, and sustainability indicators among others.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A graduate degree or an advanced level (higher education) in the research subject or equivalent competence.

Preferred qualifications

  1. You have fluent skills in English
  2. Multidisciplinary understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals and how they interact with energy systems. Previous work or publications in this field will be considered with high importance.
  3. Multidisciplinary profile spanning work in natural and social sciences.
  4. Understanding of the key global agreements on Sustainable Development.
  5. Expertise on the sustainability of the urban environment.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence and suitability.

This project is for multidisciplinary and motivated candidates that can creatively develop methods to assess energy projects and policies across all sustainable development dimensions – defined as the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Prerequisites are:
