Job description

The research engineer will contribute to the project funded by the Swedish Energy Agency and f3 – Swedish Knowledge Centre for Renewable Transportation Fuels. The project will present studies on four different routes to produce hydrogen for the hydrodeoxygenation of bio-oil from pyrolysis. This hydro-deoxygenated biooil will then be used to produce transportation fuels. The main tasks of the research engineer are 1) literature review of processes for biomass to transportation fuels 2) process modelling and simulation of the identified routes for hydrogen generation using Aspen Plus/Aspen Hysys/MATLAB 3) assisting project partners in techno-economic evaluation 4) report the results in technical reports and journal articles. The position is for one year and the tasks should be completed within the stipulated time. The research engineer will be employed at the Department of Chemical Engineering and will be supported by Shareq Mohd Nazir (Assistant Professor) and Klas Engvall (Professor) in the research activities.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • The candidate must have completed and obtained a masters degree in chemical/process/energy/environmental engineering.

Preferred qualifications

  • Candidates with interest and experience through masters thesis or industry projects in process modelling and simulation will be preferred.
  • Candidates who are able to use at least 2 of the following tools: Aspen Plus/Aspen Hysys/MATLAB
  • Previous experience with process modelling and simulation of hydrogen generation, reforming, gasification and CO2 capture processes is preferred.
  • Ability to work together in a team
  • Independence  
  • Awareness of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence and suitability.
